IOTA and the LINKS Foundation have partnered to strengthen IOTA Identity by integrating advanced zero-knowledge credentials. This collaboration aims to enhance user privacy and control over data, promoting digital autonomy.
The integration of zero-knowledge selective disclosure credentials into IOTA Identity is a notable advancement for blockchain technology. It was recently highlighted in a tweet by IOTA, emphasizing the shared commitment to digital autonomy and the goal of providing users with greater privacy and control over their personal data.
In this partnership, the LINKS Foundation has joined the Identity Working Group, which includes builders utilizing IOTA Identity to foster the adoption of self-sovereign identity. The collaboration aims to integrate zero-knowledge credentials to enhance the security and privacy of data sharing.
The Identity Working Group was established by IOTA in partnership with organizations such as walt.id, Teleconsys, and TangleLabs. Its focus is on the development and maintenance of the IOTA Identity Library, which aims to advance self-sovereign identity technologies.
The LINKS Foundation, known for its expertise in cybersecurity and zero-knowledge proofs, has recently joined the Identity Working Group. The foundation is actively involved in projects like QUBIP, which focuses on transitioning digital identity protocols to post-quantum cryptography, showcasing its commitment to enhancing data security and privacy.
Selective disclosure is a key feature of self-sovereign identity that allows users to share specific aspects of their credentials. The Identity Working Group prioritizes this feature and supports two main types of selective disclosure implementations: Selective Disclosure JSON Web Token (SD-JWT) and BBS+-based Selective Disclosure. These implementations provide different levels of security, flexibility, and data privacy control.
The LINKS Foundation has also played a pivotal role in developing a digital passport for raw materials within the Mastermine EU project. This project utilizes IOTA’s Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) to establish a groundbreaking digital passport system, aimed at enhancing transparency and traceability in the EU mining landscape.
