The first demonstrator of the TRADE project, which highlights the potential of IOTA in advancing secure and interoperable Automotive Cyber Systems, was presented. Filancore, ETO, and THIngolstadt are collaborating to refine the system and integrate research from “alfried” for car-to-infrastructure evidence using IOTA.
The annual meeting for the BMBF_Bund-funded TRADE project took place in Ingolstadt, generating a lot of excitement. The event, hosted at the THIngolstadt Automotive Testcenter CARISSMA, showcased the first demonstrator, marking a significant step towards achieving an open, secure, and interoperable Automotive Cyber System.
The future of mobility, powered by IOTA, is taking shape through the efforts of the TRADE project, alfried_fn, FilancoreGmbH, and EtoGruppe. They are making considerable progress with IOTAidentity in production, paving the way for a more connected world.
The collaboration between Filancore GmbH, ETO Gruppe, and THIngolstadt is nearing its conclusion in June 2024. The progress made so far offers a glimpse into the possibilities that lie ahead.
The TRADE solution represents integration and innovation by combining ETO’s top-tier automotive hardware, Filancore’s Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) Identity and Access Management System, and THI’s Automotive Client. This lays the foundation for enhanced security in autonomous driving.
Benjamin Bönisch, VP Digital Products & Services at ETO GRUPPE and farmunited, expressed his excitement about the TRADE project’s interaction with alfried_fn. He also highlighted the base technology from IOTA and the significant progress made during a recent test field demonstration.
The initiative aims to seamlessly integrate every component within the vehicle and incorporate insights from the research project alfried. This will provide car-to-infrastructure evidence using IOTA’s Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) and decentralized ledger technology (DLT). This approach embodies the envisioned future of mobility and autonomous vehicles.
IOTA’s decentralized ledger technology offers a secure, scalable, and feeless transaction framework, which is crucial for the complex dynamics of automotive systems. By leveraging this technology, vehicles can communicate with infrastructure seamlessly and with an unparalleled level of security and trust.
THIngolstadt, renowned for its expertise in Automotive Security, will conduct comprehensive testing to determine the effectiveness and applicability of SSI in Automotive Cyber Systems. As the project enters its final phase, the focus remains on delivering a system that sets the standard for secure, autonomous driving in the modern era.
